International Women’s Day (IWD) is on the 8th of March. It is an annual day which celebrates the economic, cultural and social achievements of women. Near Neighbours wishes to raise awareness of IWD by mentioning what Near Neighbours events are taking place to celebrate IWD and to ask people which women have inspired them in their lives.

It would be great if you could support our campaign for IWD. You could share this page with information of our campaign and IWD events, or you could answer the question we would like to ask you!

‘Who is an inspirational woman in your life? Don’t forget to tell us why!’

Here are some Near Neighbours IWD events happening near you!

West London

Lizzie, a Catalyst Graduate, is organising an event at SOAS on 6th of March. Behind Closed Doors is hosting an event which is a panel discussion on domestic violence, detailed fully here.

Panellists include Baroness Glenys Thornton, Margaret V Aberdeen (survivor and “Warrior Queen” Women’s Empowerment advocate), the PSHE Association, Mankind Initiative and others.

Our event will be interactive, so audience members can help shape the legal and educational reforms we want to see implemented. Effectively, the audience will set the agenda for lobbying parliament en masse, in person.
