New Cross Community Church in Sutton-In-Ashfield is a church plugged in to the heart of their local community- with their doors wide open and many events going on there during the week from a friendship circle to toddler groups.

For about a year they have been giving out clothing as people have requested it, provided by SharewearSharewear provides emergency clothing, shoes and bedding to people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire currently in crisis with a referral system through their referral partners.

However, they have now taken this relationship a step further and set up Sharewear Ashfield and Mansfield, based at the church. Local organisations can now refer those they come across directly to New Cross Community Church, rather than to Sharewears' main base in Arnold.

If you are a church or community group that currently gives out clothes, or would like to, but do not have the capacity to receive and sort through donations yourself, Sharewear may be able to help you.Their volunteers sort through their donations, only keeping those of good quality and sorting them into gender, size and type of clothing. They will then deliver the packages of clothes to the project to give out to those in need.

Currently, over 20 groups receive clothing, but they are open to supporting more.

This new project is brilliant because it enables each organisation to play to it's strengths- Sharewear in providing good quality clothing and New Cross in connecting with local people in need.

At Transforming Notts Together we love to support and enable connections to be made so that your time and energy can be spent focusing on those who most need it.Do let us know of other partnerships happening so we can share your stories. and learning with others.
