Near Neighbours Director of Catalyst Young Leaders

Near Neighbours is an initiative of the Church Urban Fund. The Near Neighbours programme brings together those who are near neighbours in communities that are religiously and ethnically diverse, so that they can get to know each other better, build relationships of trust, and collaborate together on initiatives that improve the local community they live in. Near Neighbours works with people of all faiths and none, and is an equal opportunities employer. The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has funded this programme for six years, latterly with £1.5m in 2016-2017, with match funding from others.

Catalyst is a dynamic leadership programme for young people which is a key part of the Near Neighbours programme. Catalyst has been running since 2011 and about 430 students have graduated from this programme. We are now seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced person to run the Catalyst programme, which we are seeking to expand, equipping young people from diverse backgrounds to improve local communities.

The Director will be responsible for putting in place a reliable system for recruiting Catalyst participants, through liaising with HE colleges and universities, faith communities and other programmes for young people aged 16-26. They will be responsible for the syllabus, accreditation (currently level 2 with Leicester College) developing innovative and scalable training workshops and in addition devising a programme of activity for Catalyst alumni so as to ensure their retention and continued support for the programme.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track-record in training, leading, influencing and delivering a programme. Beyond this, they must be able to demonstrate first-class communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build relationships with individuals from all backgrounds and to work flexibly.
