Fundraising Ben Alonso - Director of Fundraising Ben joined CUF in December 2017 bringing 9 years of charity sector experience with him. Having previously worked at a range of regional and national charities such as Hospice in the Weald, The Diocese of London and Richard House Children’s Hospice. Ben has garnered a wide breadth of fundraising experience including managing organisational change and development. With a passion for building relationships and developing staff, Ben incorporates a relationship fundraising approach to everything he does. Ben will provide leadership across CUF’s fundraising directorate and will be responsible for driving the charity’s grassroot income generation and supporter growth. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling and recently he passed his PgDip in Charity Marketing and Fundraising as well as getting engaged on the top of a mountain! Rachel Sharpe - Director of Partnerships Rachel joined CUF in December 2016. Over the past few years she’s worked for a Christian meditation charity as Director of Development and as Head of Strategy for a global energy consultancy which most recently took her to Iran. A couple of years ago she also spent time in Kolkata working for Mother Teresa’s home for the dying and taught primary school children in a slum outside the city. Rachel is passionate about the restoration of contemplative practice to Christianity and the relationship between interior transformation and social change. In her spare time, she is working on the development of a meditation project in the Cotswolds and loves to practice yoga. Rachel has an MBA from Kingston Business School and is part-way through a Master’s in Sustainable Development. Matt Adcock - Head of Communications For the last seven years Matt has been the Director of Comms at London School of Theology, managing the strategic development of LST’s overall profile, the communications function, and the wider development. He has also held communications roles for a range of organisations including the NHS, YMCA England, and various business schools. In his role as head of communications, Matt provides leadership in overseeing a clear communications strategy to build the reputation of CUF and raise awareness about their work and projects. Matt is passionate about seeing the church make a real difference through social action. In his spare time Matt reviews films each week for a group of newspapers and is a trustee of a youth support charity. Trudy Adjrah – Head of Supporter Development Trudy has worked at Church Urban Fund since 2013, and has worked in fundraising for over 10 years, across a range of disciplines. She has a Certificate in Fundraising Management and is a member of the Institute of Fundraising. Sam Low – Fundraising Systems and Experience Manager Sam joined CUF in late 2015 from Macmillan Cancer Support where he worked in their Corporate Partnerships Department. He is responsible for managing and formulating the strategic organisational processes for CUF and the Joint Ventures across England, as well as managing the database and high-value project support. He enjoys the outdoors, fishing and kayaking, and holds a BA (Hons) from The University of Southampton. Rhea Varma - Senior Relationships Officer Rhea joined the CUF team in December 2017 with over 13 years of management experience in the NGO/INGO sector. Her more recent experience has been in Project Management in overseas, food & nutrition-related programming. Rhea has worked for 5 years on partnerships and building relationships for the establishment of feeding centres in rural Lesotho. This has taught her that investing in long-lasting relationships can yield powerful social action change and enrich the lives of those in need. She joins the fundraising team, endeavouring to do just that! Elieshia Hinds – Database and Supporter Services Officer Elieshia has worked for Church Urban Fund since 2014 and is fairly new to fundraising. She has worked in various retail companies and a mega UK church. Elieshia is a wife, mother of 3 and has over 10 years experience in the sector. Holly Adams- Events manager Holly joined CUF in summer 2018 from Canterbury Diocese where she worked as a Training and Events Coordinator in their Local Church Development department. She brings over ten years’ experience of working in the third sector, and four years of event management to her role in the Fundraising team at CUF where she is responsible for delivering programmes such as the Advent Sleepout Challenge and Raise Your Voices. In her spare time she is involved in Christian peace activism, sits on the PCC of her local church and also enjoys spending time outdoors. Abi Bates - Events Officer Abi joined CUF in June 2018, after 7 years working as a Children’s Worker in the Church of England. As part of the Fundraising team Abi helps to deliver our events such as the Advent Sleepout Challenge and Raise Your Voices as well as looking after our challenge events. In her spare time Abi enjoys running, walking her sausage dog Max and trying out new foods. Roshi Theva - Communications Officer Roshi joined the team as a Communications Officer in September 2018, previously working as an Information Officer for Merton Council. She has volunteered at several charities over the last few years from Livability to Tearfund doing digital comms. Outside the office she is youth leader at her church in Kingston, run a life group and cook Sunday lunch for the local homeless. Antonio Santos – Database Assistant Antonio joined CUF in 2018 and works on their database and income management. Mark Ereira-Guyer – Partnerships Manager Mark is a well known figure in the voluntary and community sector, having previously headed up a street children’s charity Action for Brazil's Children Trust; managed Lloyds Foundation's regional grants programme and worked as a manager for community development specialists, Community Action Suffolk. He has worked with voluntary sector leaders for more than three decades, helping to build more effective organisations to achieve their social mission and income. He has considerable local government experience serving as a councillor for 22 years including on the LGA’s Community Wellbeing Board. Mark also worked as a senior Home Office Civil Servant focused on community regeneration in London. He enjoys volunteering and supporting the most fragile voluntary groups in deprived and diverse community settings. Bridget Harvard – Partnerships Manager Bridget joined CUF (JFF) in July 2018. She has spent over 15 years in fundraising in the USA, pursuing a career that was predominately focused on educational fundraising but also included a period as Director of External Affairs with the Florida Orchestra. Over the past two years she worked for the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership as Director of Development. Here, she was responsible for developing and managing the Foundation’s fundraising strategies and activities, focusing mainly on major donors as well as associated trusts and foundations. Being raised in a family of modest means, Bridget is passionate about creating opportunities for the vulnerable and disadvantaged in our society, whether it be by helping to provide deserving children with access to a great education or by raising funds to transform lives, giving people with multiple challenges the support they need to turn their lives around. In her spare time, she loves spending time with Rosie her Labrador and hanging out on the River Ouse with her husband. Bridget has an MBA from Anna Maria College in Massachusetts and is a member of the Institute of Fundraising.
