Prior to working for TMC she has many years experience of Church-community development work as the Development Officer for SEARCH, an ecumenical project in Hull supporting church social action, and as Development Officer at the Trinity Centre in North Ormesby.

Kate - Faithfully Ageing Better Development Worker Kate Wells is the Faithfully Ageing Better Development Worker for Middlesbrough Expand We are pleased to welcome Kate Wells, who will be taking up the reins of the FAB project for the next few months while Maddy Fisher is on maternity leave. Kate has worked and volunteered in a wide range of community settings, and as a pharmacist has spent a lot of time with older people, understanding the need for companionship and activities among this population. She has been involved in church projects for many years and is looking forward to working with groups inMiddlesbrough.

Revd Paul Ferguson: Bishop of Whitby Tel: 01642 593273 E-mail [email protected] Paul Ferguson is Bishop of Whitby. He grew up on Merseyside and served as a priest in Chester, Westminster, and York. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Archbishop’s team with particular responsibilities in the area of South Tees and the North York Moors. His wife Penny works for Tees Valley Music Service in Redcar & Cleveland schools. They have three grown-up children and one grandson. Paul has been Chair of Together Middlesbrough & Cleveland since its start. TRUSTEES Revd Dominic Black: Rural Dean of Middlesbrough Since 1998 Dominic has ministered in outer estate and inner urban deprived communities in Hull and Middlesbrough. He has been involved in many community development initiatives and partnerships particularly with children and young people. He is vicar of Holy Trinity North Ormesby, a parish with an extensive social action programme and is Chair of North Ormesby Big Local partnership. Mr John Hinman: Representative from RC Diocese of Middlesbrough John Hinman is originally from Middlesbrough and worked in the retail industry before going to University as a mature student. He spent seventeen years in senior positions in Further Education before embarking on a career in the charity sector. John spent most of his time at the NSPCC developing safeguarding programmes in ethnic, refugee and asylum seeker communities. John is a former Trustee of the Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough. He is now retired and is a Trustee of TM&C and several refugee charities. John worked with others in developing the John Paul Centre, Middlesbrough into a community hub. He is also playing a part in the development of TM&C Champions. Mr Jon Miles: JV Development Manager, Church Urban Fund Jon is Development Manager for Church Urban Fund, working on most things to do with setting up, running and developing Together partnerships across the country, including help with governance, planning, recruitment of workers, supporting workers and trustees, network meetings and gatherings. He has a background in regeneration and community development work, and experience working in the private, public and charity sectors, as well as involvement in a range of church-based initiatives. Mrs Kate Morris: Lay Chair of Middlesbrough Deanery Living in Middlesbrough for nearly fifty years, Kate Morris was until retirement headteacher of the Cleveland Assessment Unit for pre-school children with disabilities. She is the lay chair of Middlesbrough Deanery Synod and co-founder of the Welcome Break drop-in centre at St Barnabas Church where she has worshipped for many years. She is chair of the Davison Trust, a local grant giving charity supporting children with disabilities and their families. She is married with two children and four grandchildren. Mr Stuart Nimmo: Representative from Middlesbrough & Eston Methodist Circuit Stuart has been a lay preacher in the Methodist Church for 40 years and is a member of the Circuit Leadership Team with a responsibility for social justice issues. He also represents the Circuit as a Trustee on the board of the Methodist Asylum Project (MAP). Philip Whitehead, Teesside University Professor in Criminal and Social Justice, School of Social Sciences, Business and Law, Teesside University and member of Social Futures Institute. After studying theology at Manchester University in the 1970s and later qualifying as a social worker/probation officer at Lancaster University, Dr Whitehead worked for the Probation Service in the North East of England from 1981 to 2007 before being appointed lecturer at Teesside University. He was appointed Professor in criminal and social justice in July 2015. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Mrs Barbara Edwards provides administrative support to the Board of Trustees, and helps to keep the TMC website up to date. She is the administrator of St Barnabas Church, Linthorpe and is married with one grown-up son.
