An exciting senior leadership opportunity has arisen to join Church Urban Fund’s growing team in the newly created role of Managing Director.

CUF was established by the Church of England as a practical response to unmet need and has been active in local communities for over 30 years. Our vision is to see people and communities all over England flourish and enjoy life in all its fullness. We work through local parish networks, and alongside other faith-based and secular organisations, to bring about positive, sustainable change.

Our success rests on our approach to building trust, empowering local people to have a go at addressing the areas of greatest need in their communities and speaking out against injustice. We are committed to working through relational partnerships which bring about long-term, sustainable change by mobilising local people to be the source of the change they want to see and to use the assets already available in their community.

In order to respond to the shape of welfare changes, we have been through a period of transformation and renewal; moving from a grant making trust to a UK development agency which will ensure our vision to secure healthy and flourishing communities is achieved. Following the success of our networking and fundraising, we are increasing the size of our existing works, building new programmes of activity and growing our team.

The newly created role of Managing Director will be responsible for operational and strategic management of CUF’s core strategy with a focus on income generation, operational management and transformation across the organisation and our subsidiaries. An outstanding track record of leadership and development at a senior level is critical for this role, to ensure CUF continues to deliver efficiently, whilst delivering our exciting vision for strategic change.

Our new MD will have experience of working successfully within a non-executive governance structure - ideally in the charity sector – and the ability to develop business and increase income across a multi-brand organisation. You will have gravitas to drive and influence collaborative change, both internally and externally across complex partner and stakeholder arrangements.

This role requires someone self-motivated and innovative with a passion for change and empathy for CUF’s heritage and ongoing relationship with the Church of England.

This is a truly fantastic opportunity for an experienced executive to lead and inspire an established, yet agile and developing charity.
