Together Newcastle
TOGETHER Newcastle is working to Inspire Positive Community Action to Tackle Poverty in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.
TOGETHER Newcastle is part of a national network developed by Church Urban Fund to help create sustainable and more effective solutions to tackling poverty in England; and in order to do this work between the Tyne and Tweed the Diocese of Newcastle and the Church Urban Fund have formed the TOGETHER Newcastle partnership.
Poverty is not a lifestyle Choice
We believe that poverty is more than an issue of wealth. We recognise that poverty reaches wider and affects individuals and communities in terms of
- Relationships
- Identity
- Resources
Poverty can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or ethnicity.
Those trapped in the ‘web of poverty’ are there for many reasons.
- Local jobs may be non-existent or inaccessible.
- A history of domestic violence.
- Poor educational opportunities and experiences.
- Lack of confidence to manage personal finances.
- A downward spiral of debt, with escape feeling impossible.
- Physical and mental health problems, and issues including addiction and isolation.
