The Source cafe, Aldershot
"There's nothing for kids to do in Aldershot" - for some young people, the only ways out of boredom are drinking and taking drugs.
The Source Cafe was created to offer an alternative. Along with a cafe and recreational space where teenagers can meet friends and spend time off the streets in an accepting, welcoming environment, the project also provides counselling and mentoring, helping young people to address problems including anger and frustration, low self esteem or anxiety, which prevent them from achieving their goals.
Many of the young men and women coming to the Source are also parents, so part of the Source's work involves working with them on personal issues, such as the consequences of the ways they have been parented themselves, and giving practical support.
The Source's aspiration for young people is to 'Be, Belong and Become'; becoming - growing in confidence and self-belief - is supported by R.E.A.L, a project run by the Source which gives them an opportunity to explore faith and spirituality in ways that are relevant to them.
Watch the film to see how the Source transforms hurt and damaged lives.
