Poverty and Social Exclusion in the UK
This website is produced by the New Policy Institute with support from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. It monitors what is happening to poverty and social exclusion in the UK. The material is organised around 50 statistical indicators.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is a large social policy research and development charity that seeks to better understand the causes of social difficulties and explores ways of better overcoming them. See also the  JRF online pressroom

The ESRC Research Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion focuses its research between five inter-related strands: economic exclusion and income dynamics; social welfare institutions; family change and civil society; community, area polarisation and regeneration; and exclusion and society.

The Centre for Research in Social Policy (CRSP) is an autonomous research centre based in the Department of Social Sciences at Loughborough University. CRSP’s research has four main themes: poverty and social exclusion; work and welfare trajectories; policy evaluation; and the administration and delivery of welfare services.

The Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG) aims to provide a trusted source of selected Internet information for researchers and practitioners in the social sciences. This page focuses on poverty and social exclusion.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) is an independent research organisation which aims to provide top quality economic analysis independent of government, political party or any other vested interest. IFS aims to promote effective economic and social policies through rigorous analysis of their impact on individuals, families, firms and the public finances.

Church Action on Poverty is an educational, campaigning organisation committed to tackling poverty in the UK. We work with churches and other groups across the UK to ensure that the voices of people with first hand experience of poverty are heard.

Established in 1996, the UK Poverty Programme (UKPP) is Oxfam’s youngest and smallest programme. Working to the same aims in the UK as internationally, the UKPP works with partners to change how poverty is understood and challenged throughout the country.
