Based in Manchester, in one of the most deprived areas of the country, YPAC seeks to express the love of God in a concern for young people growing up there.
YPAC offers a wide range of activities after school, at weekends and during the school holidays, creating opportunities for young people to enjoy and achieve.
The Terminus was set up by local churches to meet the need for a drop-in centre for older people and somewhere for young people to go.
As well as serving light meals and drinks, the Café doubles up as a charity shop. There is a weekly Youth Café, a Women’s Conversation Club for recent immigrants, and a ‘Knit and Natter’ group for older women.
Set up by two neighbouring parishes, this project aims to empower local people, so that poverty is not passed on to future generations.
The project runs a range of courses to help adults overcome their fear of learning and improve their employability, including GCSE English and Maths and accredited IT training.
Based in Kingston Wesley Methodist Church, Maxlife is all about helping young people reach their full potential.
Starting out with a drop-in for young people hanging about in the nearby car park, today 25 young people attend regularly, taking part in all sorts of sport and art activities.
This project works alongside people recovering from deep emotional problems associated with drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and long-term unemployment.
Its aim is to support individuals to become re-integrated into the community. The project brings structure into their day, teaches practical and life skills, and provides opportunities for voluntary work and paid employment.
